Jimmy Mowery, a former contestant on NBC’s "The Voice," is performing in Altoona this weekend.

On Saturday, the Altoona native is hitting the stage at the Jaffa Shrine Center, alongside "America’s Got Talent" finalist, and plane crash survivor, Kechi Okwuchi.

The doors will open at 6 p.m. and the show starts at 7. Tickets for the performance can be purchased at the Jaffa Shrine Center box office, or at this link. Mowery says he takes advantage of any opportunity to go home.

"A local named Vicky Collins contacted me, I think back, maybe early spring when I was still on the show and asked about doing a show at the Jaffa. I was super excited about it because I grew up going there to the circus every year and it was the biggest thing in the world to me," Mowery said.

Since making it to the top 24 on Season 16 of "The Voice," Mowery has continued performing and working on new music. Things recently came full circle for him when he performed ahead of singer-songwriter John Legend, at a car show last week. He was on Legend’s team during his time on "The Voice."

"I got to watch John’s performance from backstage, it was pretty surreal. It was the biggest, the coolest thing I’ve done since coming off the show," Mowery said.

When it comes to performing, the pop-rock singer says he is mainly rooted in areas close to his South Carolina home but hopes to change that.

"I would love to start touring more of the U.S., and I would love to get over to Europe too."

Saturday’s show is hosted by the Central Pennsylvania Council of Republican Women and a portion of the proceeds will benefit the Jaffa Shrine Center Capital Campaign and Shriners Hospital for Children.
