Emily O'Brien New Character Rumor - Days of Our Lives

I’m not sure if this is true and it’s not a spoiler. I read somewhere that Gwen will be leaving and Emily will return in the role of Theresa Donovan. Any thoughts?

Wow! I think it’s silly to do this again. I still see Ben when I look at Alex. I know it’s a soap and we have to suspend disbelief (back from the dead, anyone?) but I think it plays us for fools.

I completely agree. Just like Josh Taylor going from Chris Kositcheck to Roman Brady. I still think that was one of the worst ideas ever.

This had me interested, so I decided to look and found that on Celebrity Dirty Laundry (Is that right?) it seems to be fact.

Yes, I hope you are right that it is only a rumor with no basis. The website never mentioned “rumor” and seemed very sure.

I would love it if Emily played Theresa. If true, I’m guessing that the writers have nowhere to go with Gwen (maybe she stays in Iceland?)…and since some folks don’t like the character of Gwen, Days wants to keep Emily.
The difference will be that I read somewhere she can do an American accent very well. Guess we’ll find out soon enough (if true).

There are lots of British Actor’s who can to a spot on American Accent. I would love to Theresa back now.

Yes. I still to this day think of Josh Taylor’s Roman as Chris Kositcheck.

I personally think this is the dumbest idea. Watching an actor play a certain character for years and then suddenly comes on as someone else is ridiculous especially since we all remember Theresa. They can call her Theresa but everyone will still see Gwen when she’s on.

I think Emily is a great actor and TPTB recognize her talents. They want to keep her and just have no idea what to do with Gwen. The writing for her has always been all over the place. Theresa will probably be involved with Brady and Tate will be a teenager.

Instead of the Gwen show, we’ll be getting the Theresa show. They have wildly overestimated her appeal.

I agree that Emily O’Brian is an excellent actor.
It’s a shame that they didn’t find a niche for her Gwen character particularly when it looked so promising with Xander. At the beginning of their relationship we saw a genuine match-up of soul mates having similar sketchy backgrounds.

As much as viewers initially felt some excitement with Xander and Chloe, his proposal to her seemed almost comical in contrast to his interaction with Gwen.

So, Gwen will morph into Theresa. I don’t feel comfortable with that change, but we’ll see how credible it appears.
