UPDATE:

Bob Statler, the Fire Chief with the Johnstown Fire Department tells 6 News the initial report of the fire at Johnstown's Pleasant Hill Baptist Church located on the 200 block of Peelor Street came in at about a quarter to 7 A.M. Tuesday.

Statler says when crews responded to the scene, they arrived with fire venting from the basement of the church with fire and heavy smoke located in the main part of the chapel.

Were told no one was in the church at the time of the fire.

Statler said crews on scene were experiencing water issues as they fought the blaze. He says the water in that section of Johnstown comes from an older system with smaller lines.

Statler says this church was active and it is now determined a total loss.

The State Police Fire Marshal continues an investigation.
