Cambria Heights Middle School receives 5th straight 'Schools to Watch' designation

Publish date: 2024-06-26

For the 5th consecutive time, a school in Cambria County is being re-designated as a Pennsylvania Don Eichhorn School “Schools to Watch.”

A celebration was held Tuesday for Cambria Heights Middle School.

Cambria Heights’ first “Schools to Watch” designation was in 2012.

Every three years, they get a visit from the “Schools to Watch” team, which identifies strengths and weaknesses to determine if your school is redesignated again.

"You’re having people come in that are other middle school principals, other educators, all big level and they're here just to see you what we're doing well, what we can be doing better and it's just kind of like a nice audit every three years to make sure we’re still staying on the right track,” says middle school principal Jarrod Lewis.

The “Schools to Watch” recognition program was designed by the National Forum to identify exemplary schools that ensure every child has access to a high-quality education.
