Easter egg hunt in the 1990s

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (WJAC) — We continue to celebrate the countdown to WJAC’s 70th anniversary coming up in September by taking a look back through the WJAC archive.

This week's throwback shows not much has changed when it comes to tradition.

This Easter egg hunt from the 1990s proves that.

Of course, the fashion back in the '90s was much different than today.

But the annual tradition of looking for the Easter bunny's eggs goes back centuries, and for the most part has stuck to the same premise.

Another Easter constant is of course the candy.

This is footage from a Bedford County candy shop just a few days before Easter.

It shows the process it takes to get some of the candy made - which of course always had the kids reaching for their piggy bank.

"Kids often times come in for even penny candy. We still do have penny candy for the kids, and sometimes they'll have a buck and splurge for maybe three or four peanut butter melty's, or a chocolate covered pretzel or two.”
